Sumo Bubble Wrestling
While Paul has been on light duty, he's been putting together new air packs for all the fire fighters. Afterward, he brought home all the bubble wrap for the kids to play in. Sumo Fun!
It's all fun and games until somebody got hurt though. Anna had a pretty hard hit to the back of the head. Now she has a nice goose egg.

My hairy boy
This is my sweet boy. Sweet, hairy boy. Thought he'd be funny and grow out a beard during the 7 weeks he was off from work. It's scratchy. I'm not a big fan, but he is so handsome anyway. Love this boy.
Day before he headed back to work he shaved! I spent at least an hour touching his baby smooth face. I found these on his phone though and had to share.
His dirty old biker stache.
the magnum stache.

1st day of school
It was the first day at a brand new school and I must admit I was quite nervous for my girls. Most likely, more than they were.
Anna is in 5th grade and has Mr. Bagley. One of the girls from her soccer team is in her class, so she was happy to know someone before school started.
Lainie is in 3rd. She found out at back to school night that Paul's brother's wife's brother's daughter is in her class. (did you follow that?) Just the week before we had gone to cousin Adyn's 1st birthday party and she was there too. She has Mr. Jones.
Ava is in 1st and totally excited to eat lunch at school, bummed not to get to ride a bus, but excited none the less. She has Mrs. Waldvogel.
Owen is stuck with me and Lils at home.
And Lils wanted no part in our first day of school pictures.
I took my kids to school the first day, of course. I get so nervous for them.

SHINGLES!
Around the first of August Paul got what we thought were a couple of bug bites around his eye. They started small, but then seemed to swell a bit over a period of 3 days. My sister said one night, "that looks a lot like shingles." Paul quickly looked it up online and agreed so we ran to the night clinic and it was confirmed. Shingles!! The next few days got progressively worse. Every day he'd wake up without shoulder pain and with excruciating head pain. He likened it with having someone constantly hit your head with a hammer. It dampened his spirits quite a bit. I felt really bad. He couldn't love on his children with a hurt shoulder and contagious face. They all had their chicken pox vaccine so we were fine but he was still very careful. It got worse for about 6 days before it started getting better. Here are a few shots of his worse days.

Pioneer Day
My sisters community puts on a parade and breakfast every pioneer day. Families are invited to dress up and ride around a few blocks before eating breakfast together. It was a very humble parade, but fun for all who were involved. Our whole family rode on a wagon and waved to about 10 spectators.
Getting ready for the parade to start.
On the wagon.
Eating breakfast. Homemade scones, yum!
