ER visit
At 8 pm last night Ava had a little accident. She's still a bit wobbly at times and fell face first onto a speaker. Neither Paul nor I were in the room when it happened. All we saw was the crazy amounts of blood coming from her face. I immediately start panicking, I don't do well with blood especially when it's SPURTING out of my baby's face. It took us awhile to find exactly where she was cut. (Inside her mouth by upper teeth and inside and outside lower lip.) The outside cut shown in the above pictures was gapping open and we had thought it went all the way through the lip, but thankfully it didn't. We took her to the hospital to get it checked out. I was really nervous about her getting stitches because I didn't want her to have a big scar. I was hoping to just super glue it, but apparently that's not an option with the cut so close to her mouth. The doctor didn't know if stitching it would leave a bigger scar or not so we opted to let it heal on it's own. When she woke up this morning it looked 100 times better. Hopefully she won't scar too badly.

Fun to hear from you on our blog. What a scare with little Ava. Glad she is okay.
That's HORRIBLE! I'm so happy that she's doing better. I would have lost it too!
I am so happy she's ok and didn't have to be life-flighted.:) They are such cuties.
poor little girl! i am glad she is ok.
Oh, I'm so sorry. Something similar happened to Franny when she was about 18 months old. She was sitting at the bottom of the stairs and one of my nephews through a tinker-toy can and wanted her to catch it, but the metal rim at the bottom hit her right on the lip and she got this horrible cut. She had to get stitches and the scar is definitely still visible. For a long time I felt so guilty for not putting an ointment on it, but she'd scream every time I tried. Are you using Mederma for kids? (Is that what it's called?) That might help. You have such pretty girls... I know I say that on every post, but I can't help repeating myself. They are so pretty. Anna looks so much like you. I totally remember when I guessed Paul's birthday. I've been trying to practice my ESP skills ever since, but no luck.

i can't imagine the scare you had. I wouldn't want to let her out of my sight either, but I am so glad she seems to be doing better.
