Fiesta Fun

I discovered not too long ago that several places give out free stuff for good grades on report cards. Fiesta Fun Center is one of them. After every quarter, we take the kids report cards in and they get free tokens and a free night of fun.

Lainie's 8

I'm not quite sure how I feel about sleepovers. To let my kids have them, or not. So far we've gotten by with the rule that we don't do sleepovers until we're 8. So, for Lainie's 8th birthday, all she wanted was to have a big slumber party. She invited 10 of her little friends and we partied it up. Pizza, popcorn, soda, dancing, and movies. It was a LONG night.

In the morning we had our traditional number pancake. She said, "that was the best birthday ever."

I'm spoiled rotten.

Merry Christmas and happy birthday to me. My computer as been on the outs for quite some time now and I've had my eye on the new imac for awhile. Lucky me, Paul surprised me with it for Christmas and I was elated. I didn't take it out of the box however, until he was finished building my birthday present which is this super AWESOME desk that I'm in love with. I'm on the hunt for a really bold black and white print fabric so that I can make some curtains that will be the icing on the cake. Thanks babe...love it!

Meet Summer

This is my pal-Summer Reedy. It goes without saying this girl is GORGEOUS. She's my tall drink of water. She's also very kind, loving, generous, talented, funny, and moving to the UK for several years. And although I'm a little sad she'll be thousands of miles away, I'm more excited for her and her family's adventure together being American Brits. Plus, I've always wanted to visit England. :)

I took a quick trip to see her before the big move. Here we are ready to run a 5k in honor of her Aunt that died of Pancreatic Cancer several years ago. Don't let this picture fool you, this girl is at least 4 inches taller than me. I'm cheating by standing on a hill. Keeping up with this girl's stride was tough, she certainly pushed my pace.

After the race we did nothing. And it was awesome. It's been awhile since I layed in the sun without a child asking me for something. So fun the hang out and relax. (A little sunscreen on the lens..awesome.)

Later on in the evening we got ready to go to a "Going Away Party."

The next morning Kam had a bike race downtown.

It was such a great weekend. We shopped, ate great food, saw Lenny Kravitz in concert, got make overs, chatted until the wee hours and hopefully I helped her de-stress a bit. Thanks for having me Sum. I look forward to our facetime chats while you're away.

Clean 800

I've been feeling quite overwhelmed lately with the amount of stuff in our little house. (I'm sure most of us feel this way right after Christmas.) 7 people sharing 3 bedrooms is becoming more and more difficult. I wish we were at a point where purchasing or building a larger home was a possibility, but for now I've decided to make do by trying to keep my donation bins full. It wasn't until Ava had to take 100 noodles to school on the 100th day of school that I realized 100 items a day isn't a lot. My new goal for the week was to get rid of 100 items per day. (I apologize ahead of time if you spot something that you gave to us. Had to minimize the chaos.)
Day 1

The toy box was the easiest place to start, along with the children's books.

Day 2

Another easy day. Paul generously donated 85 of his prized collection of eurotuner magazines.

Day 5

Went through the shoe bins today. Consolidated to one bin..holla!

Day 6
Photobucket
Old cameras, video players, mp3 players, palm pilots, and cords galore.

Day 7

Day 8 BONUS
Photobucket
Went through the linen closet and a filing cabinet today.

I wish I could tell you that my house feels emptier. It doesn't. I still feel like there is too much stuff. I'll probably always feel that way. But at least I have several empty shelves in cupboards and closets now. It's just too bad we have 5 birthdays coming up in the next 2 months. I loathe birthday presents.
